IMPROVE YOUR CONFIDENCE LEVEL IN THEATRE WITH SAFE SIMULATION
Surgery is such a common procedure in practice, yet so many of us struggle to feel confident with it. We second guess ourselves, we hesitate, we worry about making a mistake, placing the wrong ligature, cutting the wrong part, and ultimately, that the patient suffers because of our mistake.
We know there are certain steps we need to overcome this doubt and become fully confident. The very first one is knowledge, followed by experience. It’s not just about knowing what to do intellectually, it’s also incredibly helpful to teach your own body and physical memory.
How to Develop Confidence in Surgery
Know the foundations
Before doing surgery, you have to learn what’s important to know about the anatomy, the instruments and the principles of surgery.
You have to know the steps required to perform the surgical procedure in front of you and how to deal with potential complications.
Gain physical memory so your body is quick at doing what it takes and you avoid “freezing” during real-life surgical procedures. Developing conscious competence is the step before getting to the level of unconscious competence.
There is no way to simulate real surgery unless you have a live animal in front of you. But with a live animal you won’t want to try new ways of suturing or ligating. You won’t want to try a different suture material. You want to avoid mistakes, so it’s not the best opportunity to do experiments.
Simulation allows you to overcome that. You are allowed to try something new, different, something you may consider difficult and have to try several times until you get it right. This is why we offer you a unique simulation experience with our simulation kit.
But in order to learn from simulation, you also have to get positive feedback and keep improving your technique. This is why we bring an expert tutor to teach this course.
This way, you can get it right the first time you have your “real” patient in front of you.
THE SPAY BOOSTER
At UniVets Global, we believe in developing confidence through experience. With COVID-19 bringing massive changes to training opportunities and new challenges to veterinary practice, we wanted to support our colleagues who keep working hard every day and struggling with surgical insecurities due to the lack of exposure hours and support to perform the procedure.
We created a unique simulation model for our participants with a structured study plan that includes live support to gain knowledge applicable in clinical practice, so you can increase the number of hours spent practising surgical procedures and boost your confidence safely, conveniently and with our unwavering support.
Simulation Kit included
Our simulation kit is posted directly to you and it includes surgical instruments, suture material, a silicone pad to train suture patterns and our very own unique and exclusive uterine model to practise your ligation techniques, so you can practise every step of the procedure.
Virtual Training Course
You gain access to our library of structured content organised logically and released over the course of 4 weeks, using blended learning techniques to allow you to boost your learning experience and practise your surgical skills with the guidance of vets with years of experience as surgeons.
